ParticipantGood morning!
I’ve seen a number of questions posted (been back through numerous posts now) asking for recos on washing machines, and Miele seems to be the most recommended manufacturer.
My question is, which is better? The ISE is about £500, which I know includes delivery and installation etc. Assuming that delivery & imsinstallation on a MIele was also free, which is the better machine for £500 – the ISE, or the Miele at that sort of price?
Or would you pick something else entirely?
I do appreciate that you keep getting asked for recos, so thank you for taking time to respond to my question.

Hi Hazel,
Lot of assumptions there. 😉
In truth the Miele is better built, of that there’s little doubt, to what degree at that level of Meile is open to question I suppose. IF all was equal then it would be the better machine in that way, but all is seldom equal.
Whilst I say that you have to remember that with ISE there’s the five year parts and labour warranty as well as local service, with Meile you’re dealing with national service and a call centre. I can also assure you that, when it comes time to get spares or a repair, both are freely available to the trade for ISE. Both are not for Meile and spares are horrendously expensive for Meile. You are also confined (as many repairers won’t touch Meile due to lack of spares, spares cost and lack of technical info) to using Meile’s own service which the last I heard was an £80+ callout, plus labour.
On actual performance I would assume, although I’ve not tested any of the newer Meile machines, that it was much of a muchness in both results and wash times due to the constraints for clothing and eco labelling.
Hope that helps.

ParticipantThanks K, that’s very helpful and balanced.
The ISE seems to have a really good selection of programmes – does anyone have any views on actual wash performance please?
Thanks again

Wash performance on ISE, I can’t speak for the Meile as I’ve not tested them, is very good with most people remarking that used correctly the results are miles ahead of what they’ve had before. From my own testing the results are pretty darned good.
The programs we chose because they are clear, concise and in plain English. You don’t need a degree to work out what does what, it’s just nice and simple to operate. Another thing we’ve gotten a fair bit of good feedback on as, like us, it would seem people just want it kept uncomplicated.
Noise wise most people have simply said that it’s quiet where we’ve had a comment. One or two people still experience noise on certain flooring, but you’d get that with whatever machine was there but usually that’s eliminated by the installation by an engineer as much as possible, they tend to know what they’re about.
Hope that helps.
