ParticipantOk guys, my mothers washing machine (Hoover AM110) has the following problem, the machine will go all the way through whichever setting/cycle is chosen, even the hottest wash without heating up the water, I’ve checked the thermostat and the heater element and both appear to be ok, any ideas/suggestions much appreciated, thanks in advance, Soulman.

I know it may seem a daft question but how do you know it isn’t heating the water ?
Often on more modern machines the wash water level is far lower than the door glass so you can’t feel any heat.
Generally if there was a heating problem the machine would abort the cycle and not go through and complete.
It may be an electronic problem of course if there definitely is no heat, is it finishing the cycles much more quickly then previously ?

Thanks for the reply Dave, I only know what I was told and have related to you from my sister, although after trying another themostat and testing the heater element I placed the washer on the hottest wash setting, my sister tells me that on this setting you can feel the door class and it is (Normally) quite hot, I felt at the it wilst the machine was going through its cycle and it was stone cold throughout.

Possibly the thermistor is at fault, it needs checking for resistance change during temperature rise and fall 🙂
Check the repairs@ link below if you are unable to carry out this type of test (with the power off of course) 😉
