ParticipantI have a Frost Free Hotpoint Fridge Freezer (FFS90P I think) which has a problem with the fridge not receiving any cold air from the fan in the freezer compartment. I have checked the ducts to and from the freezer to the fridge and they are clear. The fan is working and cold air is pumped around the freezer to the point that it is very cold, but no air is reaching the fridge hence it is 20+ degrees.
I did notice that the fan operates anti-clockwise – don’t know if that makes any difference.
Any help gratefully received.

If the model is correct it could be either the baffle in the fridge or the control PCB, there’s little else that can be replaced on these models (sensors all foamed in and not removeable :()
Power off when checking please or try the repairs@ link below for an engineer 🙂

Dave, thanks for your reply. The baffle has been replaced and I have confirmed that it opens and closes as required, however still no airflow into the fridge.
If the PCB is the electronic circuit board that control the LCD etc then that too has been replaced by a Hotpoint engineer – as has the fan and the interor back panel of the freezer compartment.
Does the direction of the fan matter? It definitely operates anti-clockwise – which doesn’t seem right to me. As the fan was replaced recently, could it be that the engineer has wired it wrongly causing it to rotate in reverse?

It wouldn’t matter if it was normally, it should be an AC motor so will rotate in the same direction whichever way it was wired, call the said engineer back and ask him/her to take another look 😉

Dave, I’m trying to fix my MIL’s Fridge/freezer that has the same issue. Is it really worth repairing?
If I buy a new fridge (£100) I assume that the freezer section will be fine to run as it is.The thing that really grates is that she’s about to move house at which point she won’t need either 🙁

It’s quite likely the compressor is running constantly as the fridge sensor will not “tell” the PCB it is cold enough to cut out. This will shorten it’s life and run up a huge electricity bill if this is the case.
Either repair or replace to be honest I would say 😕
