I have an Electrolux TDC 1000 condenser dryer, it has had light to medium use for the last 6 years since we bought it new. We hang dry a lot so it hasn’t been abused.
We moved house recently and when we arrived and plugged the dryer in and started it, it hummed for about 3 or 4 seconds before tripping the RCD on the mains for the house. With no load in and no water in the reservoir it still does it. I have opened it up and checked for obstructions, the motor seems fine and there are no smells or anything. I can turn the motor/drum by hand with little resistance, and when i fired it up again the drum spun for 2 or 3 seconds before tripping the RCD again.
Any ideas, help or advice greatly recieved.

Very likely water from the reservoir has entered the fan housing and got into the heater box, blowing the trip? The rear fan housing will need removing and inspecting for likely water ingress, if that is the case then drying away the damp with a hand held dryer will cure the fault. 😉

:zap: UN-PLUG THE MACHINE BEFORE MESSING ABOUT INSIDE :zap:

thanks martin you were right, running fine now, although the fan is making a slightly high pitched noise now, am assuming this is due to the water that was sat in it. Thanks for your help!! 😆
