I think you want to save that one and stick it in “Expensive Spares”…….
What is it really? £40-50?

Participantthe reason more likly is that the model in question suffers badly from an internal gas leak on fridge evaporater which is not repairable it has also been a problem that if the compressor has died naturally that replacing the compressor aggrivates that the leak will definatly occur so the option is scrap it and dont waste the time and effort and cost I would inmagine that over the last 5 years this model has been around nearly all insured ones will have been replaced due to the extent of the problem.
iceland had this same problem and so did comet all made by ocean/brandt before they went bust.
I been to them and nothing is worse then changing the pot and then 1-2 months later leak happens not so bad if warranty but when its a chargeable call its a ongoing problem with customer.

ParticipantThe Aspera BPE1111Y is a 1/6hp compressor, too small for this Fridge Freezer… Dave’s quoted HTP14AH which I think is a 1/4hp compressor… I would fit a NBM116Y Aspera compressor to this model. A lot of these ocean fridge freezers had alli pipes lock-ringed to the compressor…. also check for corroded condenser pipes where they touch the low-side pipe.

Participantaccording to aspersa this size of cabinet works ok for 1/6hp compressor and it does

ParticipantFair enough, but I would still fit a 1/5hp on this built-in.

Participantsize might be a problem ie dimension of compressor to hole avaialable because it seems aspera are now sending taller compressor out on 1/5hp size.
