ParticipantHi,
I have a Servis M306B, probably at least 10 years old.
The spin capability has been gradually deteriorating – now will only spin properly with a half load.
I have tried increasing the drive belt tension (although it wasn’t obviously slipping) and there was a slight improvement, until the motor appeared to be over-heating (by smell & touch).
Is the motor brushless (induction)? Its a “Sole Type 20571.288 Cl.F” and doesn’t look to have any easily repaceable brushes (I’ve removed it from the machine). Also there was no sparking/arcing when it was trying to work.
I can’t see any replacement brushes available from any online supplier … and a new motor is 😥 £340 !!!
The timer/control module appears to be working OK, & forward/reverse motor relays appear to work.
Is it time for a new machine??
Thanks for any advice.

If it is an ‘induction’ motor, then it is brushless. Is the drum turning ok on wash with a heavy load? also, have you cleaned the filter lately?

absolute bargain that! 😯 at 10+ years old its probably not wise to spend much getting it sorted!i’ve been reading about these ise machines, one of the lads may be able to give you a price on one 😉

Start/run capacitor will be packing in – you need one of these:

Take it you got the motor price from espares or the like? That is nothing like the proper price and a complete rip off.
Power off if you decide to do this yourself.

hi All,
Thanks for the replies, I’ve ordered a new start/run capacitor.
I presume that when I look at the motor (at home) I should be able to locate the fairly large cap.? And looking at the spade connectors on the photo it should plug straight in? 😛
I had looked at the filter & cleaned it but it wasn’t too bad.
Yes motor price was from espares!! Clearly they must be making a bit on this, as the machine new wouldn’t have cost that much.
Thanks for the help – all very useful.

Look where the power cable goes into the appliance. You will find the capacitor up there
