got a load of gunk stuck behind the drum spider on this which is coming into the drum and marking the clothes. I’ve got the drum out but how do you remove the spider , it seems to be boltless?

New wave plus 5 model A2120. The spider is listed seperatly to the drum on connections. either drum or spider with bearing kit or spider on its own.

Well in my searches I can only come up with 09090622 Drum & spider Assy to fit that model?

I seem to recall that the spider is rivetted on?

Spider part number is 09171554 or the whole drum/spider – 09090622.

Drill off job by the looks of it 😉

yeah the cost of a whole drum is not worth it but the machine is like new. it is riveted on. i’ll see what i can do with it . Maybe blast it with something to get the gunk out. also i see on connections the drum paddles for the new wave soft wave range are now obsolete! I’ve got some here though so at least thats something.

    Thanks

Taking the heads of the rivets with an angle grinder and a cutting disk is a lot easier than drilling as these rivets are hard. Also if the rivets start to turn with the drill (which they usually do) it becomes hopeless.

Re: Hoover new wave drum spider

Thanks Andy. well i’ll look at it next week when i’m feeling brave. The problem with this is the gunk n stuff stuck behind the spider. Now whats the hole in the centre back of the drum for and where does it go. This is really gunked up and bits keep coming out of it during the wash straight into the drum. is there a gap there or is it the other end of the spider shaft. The spider shows no rust on it and the bearings are perfect etc so it must just be build up thats coming onto the clothes through this hole. Any ideas anyone (trying to avoid removing the rivets). Power washer or steam cleaner wud maybe do the trick?
