Yet another fault with my Whirlpool dishwasher, no sooner than a new ntc has been put in, the dishwasher is going wrong again!!!!!
This time it appears to be pretty much completing its cycle, however, an hour into the cycle it starts beeping continuously, and has jumped back to the rinse setting whilst flashing 4 times before pausing and then continuing with the 4 flashes.
Any clues?August 16, 2006 at 7:52 am #185299gegsy

Hi
If its draining ok, try checking the water indicator unit in sump (roundish unit). Take filters out and look inside recess, usually 3 o’clock position. Make sure its mesh isnt blocked up but don’t poke anything sharp in there as it will damage unit.Unplug appliance before investigating further.

Hi
When it starts beeping continously, there is also a draining noise. When I open the dishwasher and reset the flashing light it then continues its cycle for about another 1 minute before beeping and stopping.August 16, 2006 at 8:56 am #185301gegsy

Sounds like that WI unit. Check that out first.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a WI unit?

Hi
I’ve had a look in the dishwasher, I’m not sure what you mean by the WI unit? There are 2 recesses, one which holds the salt, and the other is where the filter is.
I have cleaned out the filter, and the wire mesh on the filter. Is this where you mean?August 16, 2006 at 2:54 pm #185307Simon46

In the recess under the filter assembly. Usually Spaghetti or bolognaise coating over it. 😆

Ah ha, I think I must have been looking in the right place then. The filter is absolutely disgusting and I’m very embarassed about the state I’ve let it get in 😳 , infact it looks as if an alien from startrek is growing on it.. yuck… so I’ve cleaned it off. Lets hope that does the trick then.
