Can anyone offer some advise please, my dishwasher wont do anything when i press start, if i press and hold for a few second’s it makes a noise from the bottom and drains out any water thats in it, then does nothing else, the start button is flashing constantly, and also there is a light on to the left hand side, it kinda makes an “S” shape, i dont know what this light mean’s, after reading some threads it look’s to be an NTC fault…but what is an NTC fault and how can it be fixed. Thank you for your Time. 🙁

Is the start light flashing any sort of sequence after you push the start button ?

Continuous flashing is almost always the NTC as you suggest 🙂

Use the forum search, search for NTC in the dishwasher forums and pick out the Whirlpool and Diplomat ones, all the answers are there 😉

Power off if investigating further or check the repairs@ link below for an engineer if you’re unsure.

I stumbled across this thread and was “happy” that the problem our machine has developed is not unique- i.e. the flasshing light and not being willing to start.
Our machine did this a couple of months ago, then suddenly it started to work ok again. Now it has started the start button flashing and won’t start. Is this then likely to be the same fault?
We have been using the machine on preheated (hot) water since day 0. Is this anything to do with this fault?

The pattern of the flashing start lamp is the key; ie 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat.
