ParticipantWell here I am again.
I think my heating element has gone. I have a problem in that I get a lot of sludge at times and the forum reccomended I put the machine on a 90 degree at least once a month. Done that but I dont think the water is heating as I feel no warmth through the glass door on a 90. Should I use my curcuit tester on the element once I have it out of the guts?. OK, you will most likely say I probably wont feel any thing on a 40 but I would expect something on a 90. May also explain why I get sludge and smells?
If it is the element, will it cost me big bucks? and can I get one easily? Thanks GuysAugust 17, 2006 at 6:23 pm #185532gegsy

Could be element,ntc or module.
With the unit unplugged check for resistence on heater terminals, with the wires removed 😉Also can you put the full model number found on the door and rear of the appliance, cheers.

Hi
Thanks for additional info.
The heater should read approx 28-32 ohms, with the terminals disconnected and appliance unplugged of course :plug: The heater if required is genuine p/no 265961. Could not see it listed in spares@ but Dave may pick up on this post and sort you out if required.
If heater reads fine and no earth leakage then Im afraid its time for an engineer, please use the link below on my sig.Greg

OK guys, I’m stumped, how do I get to the heating element? Front or back? ‘cos I can’t see it? If it’s from the front, can you tell me the easiest way to disasemble it?. Thanks, Charlie

Hi
Can’t give you a blow by blow way of changing element. What I would say is that front panel will come off and heater is at the 6 o clock position. Please un plug appliance before attempting any repair :plug:

If you look carefully for screws at bottom and one behind soap drawer you just might crack it 😉 If you feel out of your depth please feel free to use the engineer link below.

OK I got it. Once you get all the bits and pieces off and the screws etc, not too bad.
I’ve tested the element and not a dicky bird on the curcuit tester, so I guess I’m off to the shop@.
Many thanks for all the excellent advice. C 😛August 29, 2006 at 10:00 pm #185542gegsy
