Huthwaite based kitchen appliance firm Trade Appliances has been placed into administration it has been confirmed.

The company confirmed the move to customers in a statement released on their sales hotline.

The statement said: “Trade Appliances Ltd has been placed into administration. The joint administrators are currently viewing the status of individual customer orders.

“We anticipate this will be completed within 72 hours. Following this customers will be updated about their order. Please bear with us during this period.”

The firm was established in 1998 in Nottingham and moved to their Huthwaite head office in August 2004 when they purchased a 65,000 square feet warehouse facility.

The company, which sells a wide range of kitchen facilties including cookers, dishwashers and fridges, launched an internet business in 1999.

A former worker, who wished to remain anonymous, told reporters that the staff had been left shattered by the news.

“I went into work as normal on 19th February and was told to go to a meeting,” he said.

“The administrators were there and told us this would be our last day of work and we would have to send off a form to get our wage – I am still waiting to get paid.

“Since January, when we grew suspicious, we had been assured everything would be okay.

“We were told there were some financial problems but that the firm would pull through. Now we have been left without jobs and what we were told was just a lie.”
