I have a 1 year old WF860 that up until now has worked fine. The other day my other half put the machine on a standard 40 degree wash at about 8 oclock in the morning and then went to work. When she got back at 1 oclock the house was filled with a burning rubber smell. The machine was reading 0:01 time remaining and the drum was just moving round and round at the normal wash speed. This had been happening for 5 hours! She canceled the cycle and opened the door. The clothes were still wet and were very hot. Tomorrow we will run another cycle when we are around to keep an eye on it and see what happens.

It is only 7 days outside of the full parts and labour warrenty so i will contact the supplier and see what they can do. Was just wondering if anyone else had seen this problem, and has any idea whats wrong.

Yes, its a Hotpoint with Indesit electronics in it. 😥

To be honest, if you have had a burning smell from the machine I would strongly advise that you do not try it again. Even if you phone Hotpoint/Indesit under the 5 year parts guarantee the most you will pay is just under £90.00. Not cheap but far better than risking a fire in the machine or worse.

wow, i never realised the electronics were the same as the indesit. If i had i wouldn’t have brought it! I had an indesit machine before and had nothing but trouble. At least i know now!
