Have you actually timed this machine? A 60° wash will take 2hrs 20 mins or possibly even longer. If it was still on a 60°wash over 3 hours after starting it then you may have a problem. The two small wires are indeed to the NTC. This will not stop the heater working at first but if faulty could cause errors that would in fact shorten the programme.
Heater consumption 1800W @240V. Resistance 30Ω + or – 2Ω. Internal thermal fuse cuts out at 144° this is a ‘one shot’ device and will not reset
One of the biggest complaints we get in the past 5 years from customers is the extermely long wash programmes on modern washing machines.
