ParticipantI recently bought a Whirlpool ADP6940 from a reputable high store to replace of recently deceased dishwasher.
The dishwasher was last in store and was the display model…
We bought the dishwasher (no manual) and fitted it into the same space as the deceased appliance.
Everytime we use the new dishwasher, we get a F8 or FA Error on display, along with intermittant beeping and led flashing on the start button. This usually happens towards the end of the cycle.
Has anyone got any ideas what this problem is? It`s annoying and keeping the dogs awake at night!! – Cheers 😥August 20, 2006 at 2:31 pm #185887eastlmark

FA is a optical sensor failure or incorrect reading while F8 is water level related. Assuming the filters are clean there is not much else you can do. Guess you have a warranty so its time to call for service.

Thanks for the reply, when you say the fault could be water level related… Is that a problem if the front of the dishwasher is slightly raised higher than the rear (uneven floor)? – I`ve had to adjust the front feet to stabilise the dishwasher as it rocked a little when the tray is loaded.

It’s possible but unlikely to be honest 😉

Thanks for the advice chaps!
Anyway, I called Whirlpool and after much kerfuffle a very good engineer arrived and discovered that a rivet inside the dishwasher was sheared off (result of being a former shop demo dishwasher). When the dishwasher was engaged, it would spray water thru the rivet hole and eventually weep out at the back of the appliance. Because the unit was situated inbetween kitchen units, we couldn`t see any water leaks.
Due to the drop in water level, we had the F8 or FA errors.
As a result, the dishwasher has been replaced (thanks Whirlpool) and a special thanks to the Engineer who discovered the fault.
