    Hi

Our washing machine started rattling loudly and displayed the F-01 error code. We switched it off almost straight away and Ive noticed that the drum when turned manually makes a grinding sound at a specific point on every turn when gently rotated – as if it is catching on something. Having checked the forum the F-01 code suggests there is a fault with the motor, but my only concern is does this explain the grinding/catching noise – or does the catching noise indicate something else?

If it is a motor problem then it sounds like its gonna cost me – has anyone any idea what this would be approximately? Reason I ask is that we have a coverplan where we can get someone out to fix it – but if we dont use the coverplan then we get £250 back in 3 months time which is when its 5 year plan expires – typical really!

    Any help suggestions appreciated!

    Cheers
    Nig

F01 indicates a PCB failure but the noise you describe would indicate a faulty motor to be honest (raised segment on the armature).

Both are not a cheap repair I’m afraid but it may be worth asking an engineer to have a look, check the repairs@ link below 🙂

If you decide to look further, remember to power off :zap:

if the noise is in one place only it could be something catching inside the drum bra wire coin bent heater belt buckle anything really but with the f 01 fault as well prob worth calling in the pros
