Bit of an oldie this one.

When you turn to any programme and press start button, machine goes into fast spin momentarily and then stops with no further motor action.

This used to be a regular fault on this model but I cannot remember the cause.

    Thanks.

    Chris. 😕

Tacho magnet or coil. I’ve found the “magnet” (which appears to be non magnetic) sometimes breaks in half.

And the wires to the tacho break as well….

not sure if this is the one with a module in bot left , if it is the module gets a dry joint , you can see it on close inspection of the back of the module, just needs soldering . sometimes its a module replacement only £25 ish from connect

Dry joint gives no motor at all…. This one is a classic speed control problem.

sorry to contradict but i had one only last week where the dry joint was not quite bad enough and on start up the motor intermittently came on for short bursts , on closer inspection you could see the dry joint flashing

i have had that also where the machine will sit for seconds , then ramps to whatever speed it should be doing as the dry joint arcs across.
i think it is this machine with the module,
i think it is all the hoover se machines.
also worth checking the brushes if it is a dry joint i tend to find them either dead or very poorly looking 😉
but i have to say if i go out to a hoover these days first thing i do is check the little red wire where it enters the taco usually pull straight out.
