ParticipantI would really appreciate some help.
My girlfriend has a Diplomat ADP 8221 Integrated dishwasher (6 buttons and an ‘on’ and ‘cycle finish’ light)
It went wrong at the weekend when she opened it and there was still some water at the bottom of the dishwasher, not enough to spill out, but nearly.
She emptied the water out manually. Yet it will still not start. No lights flash, so no error codes.
It switches on and off, and illuminates the on/off light, and usually at this point the ‘End Cycle’ would also be lit. The ‘end cycle’ is now never lit, and pressing Start has no effect – It just does absolutely nothing.
I’ve searched this site for help, and am aware there is a reset method or switch. I thought I found the switch in the dishwasher, under the element, I pushed the metal ‘button’ as hard as I could and the thing just shot out of the base and disappeared deep into the inner workings (“Ahhh… It’s a SENSOR!” Woops. An hour later, I had it refitted.)
Anyway. I cannot find the reset button anywhere!!!! I have also tried using a sequence of button presses but that hasn’t seemed to work.
I always switch the power off.
I am aware you cannot give out service information, but has anyone got any ideas either:
1/ Where’s that damn button
2/ If I found it, it wouldn’t help because the problem is elsewhere?!!It’s got a little desperate as, when I refitted the dishwasher, I tore two great big gouges out of my girlfriends lino. (Yes, a really successful evening). She’s back on Saturday, and I’d like to have something to show her (Besides the requirement for a new dishwasher AND lino).
Thanks in advance!
Will

There is no button, it’s a method” as you suggest 🙂
Type “smeg and reset” (without the quotes) in the search box 😉

Close, Dave – it’s the “E2” error, but it’s a mechanical timer – so………
1/ Read and understand this:

2/ Remove decor door – timer shaft will be revealed. Using pointy nosed pliers, advance it forward one click and it should at least get to an end position. If it sticks again, you haven’t got it right!

Thanks so much for your responses. I will give it a go tonight.
Glued the torn lino yesterday so it didn’t look too bad, came back last night to find the cat had not been satisfied with my repair, and had ripped the tears open and chewed big chunks off…. 😯 😥
Fingers crossed I can use the “Ahhh, yes, I might have trashed your kitchen while you were away, but look how clean the dishes are!”
😳 I’m sooo dead….

Hello,
I have exactly this problem, with added extras. I think my d/w must have had this problem before.
It seems impossible to open the decor door as it looks like all the screws have been rounded by previous owners doing just this. There are two plastic screws on either side of the decor door, but they have split, possibly by someone forcing the wrong screwdrivers into them. (There is also an added complication that I might have to take the door off an adjacent cupboard to get the screws undone on the left hand side, but this is very much my problem, I’m just mentioning it as it annoys me.)
So, assuming the problem of the end of cycle light not coming on is what is stopping my d/w working, as I can’t get to the timer shaft, is there any thing else I can do? This model doesn’t have a program button, but is there any kind of reset cycle I can go through?
There is some water in the bottom of where the filter is, is there any possibility that a blockage here has caused the timer shaft to stop, and if I clear it, then reset the machine, it will then start to work?
Thanks for any help anyone can give on this.

Oh ‘eck…. Right. The plastic screws are not screws. You need a stout piece of wire. Make a 90 degree bend about 4mm from the end. Insert into the screw slot, turn through 90 degrees and pull outwards. This should release the hook on the decor door, and you can proceed as above.
