ParticipantFound the reason for the E1 code, the anti flood had operated, water in the base. Drained it and water is coming into the base via the float switch / metering tank hose. My query is what could cause it? The tank is clear apart from a slight skin lower down, but as soon as you let water in a small amount goes into the base each time. Any ideas, as I was expecting a nice blockage clearing job!

Have you checked the connection between the fill matrix and the sump? A partial blockage in that pipe will cause the water to back-up in the matrix.

No float switch on these Tony. The air break pushes direct on to the softner unit. The hose from the softner to the sump has a 90 degree bend in it, if someone has inserted somthing in order to clean it, it may have split it. Also chek the four screws around the sump from inside, they have been known to either work loose or, again, someone undoing them thinking they can clean something down there.

I said FLOAT switch in response to your original post, meaning there isnt one in the metering unit. Have never had water coming from the anti flood in theory if the diaphram is holed then it may leak but never come across that. Are you sure the water is not coming from somewhere else and just collecting under the anti flood due to it being the lowest point?
