ParticipantI am in Poland and have serious doubts as to the ability to find a dryer repairman over here, so please help me if you can!
I purchased a Clatronic dryer made in the UK. Model number WT6010. There is another number also: M 376786. From what I have gathered, it is the same as some Creda and Hotpoint models. Here’s the problem:
It started blowing breakers, so I took off the back. Above the heating element there is a space for two stats, but only one is installed.
Besides that, there are three wires that were connected together (maybe by a thermal link?) but this is what had burned up and caused the short.
Questions:
1. Can anyone translate the model number to sth in the Creda/Hotpoint line?
2. Why only one stat? There are no extra wires for the “missing” stat, if one is indeed missing.
3. Is there a thermal link connecting the other three wires? Thanks for your help!

I can’t find any reference to that model either? Taking a photo of the heater unit and posting it on here may help us to recognise the problem?

There are 15 Clartronic models listed on our UK parts ID software. ( under EXPORT Martin 😉 ) I suspect that your model number is a 37685 or a 37692 UK model WT6010, is it a condensor dryer? If it is a 37686 then its UK model number is WT6030. Some of these numbers appear to be at odds with our software but the stats are the same for all this model range.
It should have two stats and the burnt bits you have could be the remnants of the second stat.
There are two different thermostat kits depending on the age of your machine. This can be found be checking the first two numbers of the serial number. If this ‘date code is 65 or higher then you need a 1701883 stat kit. If it is 64 or lower you need a 1701557.
Both can be obtained from this site if you cannot source them locally.
PS. I suspect you have problems finding a plumber as well, they are all over here. 😀
Jim.

Thanks for the help. I don’t know why the two numbers I posted don’t match up in your documentation. It is definitely WT6010 AND 37686. The serial number is 95100050. As for the burnt bits, there are a total of three wires which were somehow connected. Since one of the stat ‘holes’ was empty, I will assume that someone bypassed the stat instead of replacing it. Stupid huh? Anyway, the info is appreciated. I will post a photo in a couple of hours if possible just in case you’re interested.

I went to the store on this site and didn’t see the “…883” stat kit. Did you mean “…583”? ❓
I might be able to find them here, but I would need to know the temp. rating. Not sure it’s worth it. I even tried Germany, but German is way out of my league. 🙁
By the way, yes, it is a condenser type dryer.
As for plumbers, I have never needed to employ one, but I have heard that the UK is crawling with Polish plumbers. 😆

We wouldn’t normally send outside of the UK for the standard postage on the website, but as these are very light, I’ll send them anyway 🙂
Please expect a few days for delivery though…
Dave.

jnwst has e-mailed me a picture, not a pretty sight. The machine does have 1701583 stats. The one shot has been discarded, the two orange wires to that have been swapped onto the cycling stat, the wires from that have been joined together. 😥 :rolls:
I have supplied him with the information he will need to correct this bodge up.
Jim.
here is one of the pics. 😯

Dear Jim and Martin,
The states arrived today. I replaced them both and the dryer seems to be running fine. I’ll know for sure when my wife does a load of laundry. I can’t thank yall enough for your help. Take care, Joe
