I have the above model dishwasher, it is an Ikea built in unit. I recently tipped a large amount of water in the bottom which shortly afterwards was emptied onto the floor by the machine. The machine will now not operate. The start light flashes and it beeps when you select a program and close the door for it to start. Usually the flashing and beeping is rectified by cleaning the filter, but not this time. I have tried holding the start button for 2 seconds to reset it and then selecting another program but nothing seems to work. I am guessing that the machine ‘thinks that it is flooded’ having had a large amount of water tipped into it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Probably base flooded. Try draining the base. Also count the flashes between pauses and let us know.

Have to ask though. Why did you tip a lot of water into the dishwasher?

The dishwasher is empty inside, is there any other way of draining it? There are 2 flashes between pauses. I was testing a worktop dishwasher that someone gave to my sister. The only way that I could get a water supply, power and somewhere to drain it was to let it drain into my machine – thought that it wouldn’t do any harm as i knew that the small machine didn’t use as much water as mine. How wrong I was!

Not the inside, the undertray beneath the machine contains a float switch. If flooded, the symptons will be as above.

    Power off if investigating.
