We have had problems with our ZX99 F/F freezer in the past and thanks to this forum solved the problem by fully defrosting the freezer, which then sorted out the problem with the fridge department, which was not staying cold.

We now have the problem back on a recurrent basis.

If we defrost the freezer the fridge works again, but after about a week the temperature in the fridge slowly starts to rise and after about 10 days we are back to square one with the fridge not working. So we have to defrost the freezer again.

Any advice as to what could be wrong would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi Sue,
Can you find the full model number please? Last time it was a ZX77 😀

Sorry it lists several on our manual so I assume they are all of the same variant.

Checking inside the fridge itself it is actually a ZX79/SSI

The fridge is cooled solely by air being blown into it from the freezer side. If it’s getting warm, there must be some sort of air flow problem. If the fridge door is left open for two minutes, the fans should cut in. The venting of the cold air into the fridge is further controlled by a flap, operated by a mechanical thermostat. Either or both could be causing problems.

It’s a technically complex beastie – your best option may well be professional help.

    HTH,
