Re: Ideal temperature for a fridge
IIRC below +5C is the sorta norm, but with this entire post it’s a test of my memory.
-1-+2C for maximum life of many foods, meats especially.
This is why you saw (not seen any for a while) triple zone refrigeration, the “Superchill” as Zanussi dubbed it, kept food fresher for longer as the cold slows bacteria growth which causes the decay of food pretty much. It’s also why a lot of the US cabinets have variable temperature zones in the lower drawers of the fridge, so stuff stays fresher for longer.
What has become apparent, if the information is correct, is that many of the A+ cabinets are not storing food at the correct temperature, instead foresaking a badge for performance.
The accepted norm, as it is on cooking products, is for +/- 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} to give a mean temperature, so as above for refrigerator and -18C is the goal for freezing as that’s the temperature at which the least degradation occurs to food.
Hope that helps.
