Hi people! Looking for some help. My Hotpoint BFI620 integrated dishwasher has gone mad! It’s only 16 months old and for the past couple of weeks has decided not to finish it’s cycle. It cleans the plates, drys them, but then keeps whirring until I open the door and turn it off.

That wasn’t too bad because at least it worked, but now it is refusing to start. I set it to go as normal, it whirs, but then it doesn’t kick in with the big rush of water I normally hear. Instead, it beeps once then the programme acts as if it’s at the end of the cycle and starts trying to suck water out.

When I open the door the ‘Heavy duty wash’ light is flashing quickly.

I poured some water in the dishwasher (it’s starting to stink!) and then tried to get it going. It sucked all the water out but that’s it. Just whirred.

Can anyone suggest anything I can do? I’m clueless with stuff like this – however I have checked the filter and it’s not blocked.

Any advice would be MUCH appreciated before I call out Dishwasher SOS!

    Thanks

    Hannah

Re: SOMEONE HELP! Hotpoint dishwasher BFI620

It’s probably flooded the base (under the machine) and activated the flood protection system. This will need to be drained off – the machine should revert to normal function, but if the source of the leak is not found and rectified, it will probably do it again in short order.

It’s a built-in machine and it’s very awkward to work on – pro help is your only sensible option. Click the link below for a UKW engineer in your area.

Thanks for your advice. I’m no expert at this kind of thing so think I will need to call someone out. Don’t want to start fiddling around and make the situation worse. Or end up trapped inside the dishwasher!

    It’s only 16 months old – it’s so frustrating.
