Please help me end my dishwasher nightmare!

Back in 1999 I bought a Zanussi dishwasher. Since that original one I have had no less than 5 Zanussi dishwashers as all have failed either within or just outside the guarantee. Zanussi replaced the last machine with an AEG Favorit, which is now 18 months old and its heater has just failed for the second time. And no, it’s NOT me. I do one or two loads a day and our water supply is very reliable and not sludgy or hard. I am also at my wits end with the local Zanussi repair service, who often take weeks to source spare parts. Before the AEG came, I was without a dishwasher for 12 weeks!

So I am now desperate to replace the AEG with something that will last more than a few months, and uses a different repair network to Zanussi. I’d be ever so grateful if you experts would tell me what you consider are the best-built dishwashers on the market today – and if you could let me know what you think of their after-sales service, that would be a boon.

    Thanks ever so 🙂

    Miele is the best.
Bosch and Siemens are worthy runner ups.

    Re: Desperately seeking reliable dishwasher!

Thanks Greg! I was wondering about Bosch and Siemens, but for all I knew they could have been the same company as Zanussi/AEG.

Are Miele, Bosch and Siemens all OK as far as repairing is concerned? That is, are the technologies they use repairable and are spare parts widely available?

I hate having to throw away the AEG just because its heater is not working, but as both heaters have lasted around 9 months there is obviously a recurring fault. The repairman said it was a familiar problem with that machine, but he said the replacement heater looked a little different so assumed that the manufacturers had replaced it with a more reliable part. Obviously not.

Are there any companies out there who take machines like this and recycle them? Is that what happens when you get a new machine and the deliver men take away the old one, or does it go straight to landfill?

    Cheers!

    Hi
Neff, Bosch,Siemens and Gagganau all belong to the same company (BSH) but all cater for different requirements and use.
As for recycling appliances you could contact these people http://www.createuk.com/
