ParticipantWhen total order is over £60 but with a couple of items being out of stock bringing the order below £60 , do Masterpart charge carriage on original order or add carriage to the parts that follow or are no carriage charges incurred whatsoever. Don`t want to appear tight but I do grudge any unneccessary carriage costs.
Hope that makes sense , because it`s a scenario I seem to have quite often with building Masterpart orders.
Oh BTW Dave , that elusive 096825 fan motor pattern part is now in stock 😯 😀 .

To be honest I do try to make sure my order is above the ‘free carriage’ but of late I have been reluctant to order anything that is out of stock at Masterpart. It always seems to take four or five weeks, or even longer for backorders to materialise. 😥

To Answer Bryan’s question, as long as there is a price shown (not POA) the oos part’s price is added to the current order so even if it is not in stock it still adds to the order total (if that makes sense), so free carriage basically whether in or out 🙂
The backorder thing is an issue, this time of the year though it’s everyone as Italy basically “shut up shop” for the whole of August, but that’s been going on for years and should be catered by the wholesakers for in June’s orders IMO 😉

Thanks Dave , so just to confirm , the back order items will be sent out carriage free , as and when they arrive in stock.

No, they won’t send them carriage free when they arrive (well they don’t to me anyway), they will add them to subsequent orders 🙂

Slightly off topic from the original post but it’s an apt enough title 🙂
Quite frankly, I am very dissapointed with them of late with backorders/no stock/low stock.
They have let me down badly several times and I would guess I’m not alone.
Quoting lead times on parts that that show up weeks later than the ETA, keeping a part on backorder for three months and when I chase told it’s obsolete, parts showing as “low stock” are put on backorder and then no reply to requests for an ETA.
Yes, I know the “August” syndrome effects things this time of the year but…

You did well by actually getting a quote for the lead time….

This forum is kindly sponsored by Masterpart, so I feel sure they will offer an explanation in due course?

In reply to the above –
At the beginning of September, we were out of stock of a number of popular lines, this was not just due to the August shutdown, but also a very busy August and September. Most of these lines are now back in stock (If not all). Unfortunately with slow moving lines, particularly Servis, there can be a delay, as many imported, this it to avoid the excessive charges made by some of the U.K parts suppliers. If you have a stock problem, please email technical@masterpart.com and we will endeavour to reply with a positive answer.

I would have thought emails to sales@ get passed on to technical regarding stock/backorder issues ??

Further to that, the situation is dire, very dire…. 👿
What kind of an answer is “sorry, no due date” with no further explanation ??
How the hell am I meant to pass that on to a paying customer who has already parted with their money in good faith ?
Get your act together please or lose business 😉

Just a quick plug for Homespares. Their website actually tells you how many they have in stock rather than vague terms like “low stocks” or “usually in stock”.
