ParticipantThe dryer on this machine does not work at all. No heat, no fan and no drum tumble. In fact no sound from the dryer timer at all. Washing side works perfectly. The wires to the dryer timer are very tight and difficult to access. Has anyone changed a dryer timer on this machine before or should l be checking something else before ordering a new timer ? Thanks in anticipation.

Some people on here frown upon live testing but I would be checking for 240v on the dryer timer motor connections when on a dryer position. It could be a problem with the wash timer. I did one machine the other week where I thought the dryer was faulty but it turned out you have to have the half load button in before it works 😕

Have you checked the dryer knob is actually turning the timer shaft. The knobs quite often break and just spin on the shaft.

Good call, seen that many times, dozy of me not to remember 😳 . Swop the variable temp knob over to test. If that is faulty you will need full model number including the letter after WD61 to ID the part.

Thanks for your input guys. The knob is definitely turning.
l don’t mind live testing but in this case the space is so limited that it scares me to death :rolls: . l would have to dismantle all the front to get at it Basically I’m looking for an easy way out 😆 , arn’t we all. Before l order a dryer timer has anyone come across this problem when the wash timer was faulty ❓September 7, 2006 at 8:31 pm #187865timdowning

You say the knob is turning, so the knob is definitely turning the shaft? take knob off and turn dryer timer shaft with pliers to be sure.
Never had ‘no dryer’ operation on the WD range. I too would start with changing the dryer timer before wash timer.

If the knob is OK then you should hear two distinct clicks as you turn the timer ON & OFF. Just pull the knob off and it will be obvious if it has cracked.
Did you you get the e-mail I sent you?
PS. Edited the thread title, don’t want gegsy coming over all peculiar when he sees 69. 😆
