Is anyone aware of door sealing problems on this model? 🙂

    Thanks Jim

This is not the problem, I am talking about a door not sealing up the sides of the door, ie the seal not touching the door. The top of the door is ok, but as you look down the sides of the door the gap get gradually greater. There is water leaking past the seal. IMO the feathered edge of the seal does not make contact with the door. I am reluctant to change the seal unless there is an improved version. Noise can be heard past the seal when washing, pushing the door eliminates this.

IMO this appliance is designed and manufactured poorly, I am just trying to find out if this is a ongoing problem before taking further action. 😥 I am tempted to send the customer to H/P and let them try to explain why the design is poor. 😳

I am sure that this is not a one off and other engineers have come accross the same problem

    Update on this one.

Fitted a new door seal, problem still there! have advised the customer to get Hotpoint in as I think this is a design fault. The seal does not make contact with the door fully.
Hotpoint have altered the seal by cutting away the “feather edge”of the seal, approx 50mm from each end. I understand this is to stop “back pressure” 😕 mmmm. IMO the overflow turret inside the d/w should take care of any pressure, it,s open to the base, OR is this the reason that these beggers flood into the base? and NOT all the excuses that Hotpoint are giving to customers 😯 😕

The customer is going to get back to me after HP, s visit, so watch this space 😉

Lets be honest about it, I have cardboard boxes in the garage that are more robust than the doors & cabinets on these machines. 😥

In that case wouldn’t that suggest the door hinges are mis-aligned? (i.e the hinges or pivot point should be further back?)

Thats it Martin, that’s why I have asked the customer to contact Hotpoint, I await the reply to see what bulls*it they come up with 😉
