    Hi,

I wonder if someone can help me out.

I recently had a small flood in my kitchen, I am assuming that the plug socket on my dishwasher got wet as when I plug it into a socket it shorts out the electric…. ie. the power to my downstairs sockets are automatically shut down at my fuse box.

I’ve tried 2 different wall sockets, all known to be working, therefore I think it is the plug that must be wet inside?

It’s been 5 days since the flood incident and it’s still not working.

The plug is dry to touch itself and I’ve changed the 13amp fuse in it today but it doesn’t look like that had blown anyway.

There doesn’t look to be any way to get into the plug itself, it’s not like a standard cased plug but a rubber encased one.

I’ve even had a hairdryer out on the plug!!

Can anyone advise? Could the plug be a red herring and I should be looking elsewhere?

    Thanks for the help.

    Andy

The quickest and easiest way to eliminate the plug is to cut off the old plug and put a new plug onto the cable. If you do not feel that you can do this then pleae make sure you get someone who has the required skills. Moulded plugs can sometimes short across inside but if you had a flood that reached the plug then you have to take into account that most of the gubbins on a dishwasher is in the base. Any flood above 6 inches ( sorry don’t do metric) will almost certainly have covered most of the main components in your dishwasher.

It is not advisable to keep trying it whilst it is tripping the circuit breakers, this can lead to further damage.

Click the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help.

Thanks for the tip mate, I’ll look into that one, it wasn’t a major flood ie. It just seems to have effected the plug I’m sure.

    Thanks again
