I have a smeg freestanding gas/electric cooker model no nz634ess

When using the fan forced option, the fan and oven cuts out when the oven temp reaches about 200-220 and then restarts about 7-1- minutes later.
all other functions work fine – its just when using the fan element.

    any suggestions how to fix?

    Thanks DG

I can find no reference to this model.

You are describing the symptoms of the oven shutting down on the safety/overheat thermostat, rather than the oven control thermostat.

yes I think that is the problem
is there anyway to adjust or move the safety thermostat as it only occours when using fan forced and I thing the fan element is causing the problem

You cannot re-calibrate any of the thermostats. So, which one is faulty? Set the oven to a low temperature (say, 150c) – the heating lamp should come on. If the oven reaches temperature, the lamp should go out. This will prove that the oven thermostat is cycling as it should, therefore the safety cut-out is the one at fault.

Most SMEG ovens also have some sort of cooling fan in addition to the oven fan – is this running?

Also, please re-check the model number as I won’t be able to identify any spare part numbers from the info given.
