    Hi there.

    I’m trying to fix my in-laws’ Hoover New Wave Auto-Washer 1300 (model AC178) which apparently wasn’t spinning.

    Gut feeling was likely to be motor brushes or belt.

    Whipped the back off, belt is fine so tried a spin cycle with nothing in machine and it worked fine, but the motor sounded very crackly (no visible sign of sparks though).

    Tried the same thing with some towels in the machine – a full cycle first, and then a spin cycle – and absolutely nothing from the motor. (it fills and empties OK and the program display reads as it should)

    Empty it again and try the spin cyle and this time nothing from the motor.

    Is this most likely simply the motor needs re-brushing or is there something else I should consider?

    Hi

    New brushes , but check the armature for wear .

    Unplug and switch off for safety before starting

    i would advise you change the brushes and stop trying to spin the machine as you may totally kill the motor.
    brushes are cheap motors aint!
