ParticipantMy 18 month old dishwasher has developed a problem. When you start the cycle it seems ok, but then 30 seconds (ish) in it stops and two of the programme lights are flashing away merrily.
Counting from the left, these are the second and fourth lights.
Tried searching this forum, but haven’t seen these errors mentioned. Would appreciate someone letting me know what these mean as the Hotpoint website helpfully fails to recognise this model number!!!
Thanks

Almost certainly heater failure – they are a weak spot on this family of Indesit based machines.
Heater is p/no C00094152 – an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk if you wish to order a replacement.
Power off, if investigating.

Thanks. Is this a DIY repair (I’m quite competent around electrics, i.e. replacing cooker elements etc…) or is it a service engineer job?
If the latter, is it worth spending the £90 to get a Hotpoint engineer to come out (to get the parts free) or am I better with an independent engineer?
Thanks again.

The main problem with this repair, is the type of clip used to secure the heater unit to the hoses. Very difficult to replace the original ones. I have heard that your local Vauxhall garage does stock the ‘thin’ jubilee clips that are the best solution.
Plug out and lie it on its left hand ( from the front ) side, with the mains plug remove first of course.

Hello,
I’ve got the same error code on my 15 month old bfi620. What is the best way to resolve this problem and ensure it doesnt happen again? Repair myself? Hotpoint engineer (quoted my 105 pounds) or get an independent to repair it?
Appreciate any help

The only way you be sure it wont happen again is buy a decent quality machine next time instead of sub standard Indesit rubbish dressed up as Hotpoint.
The heating element needs checking with a meggar or multimeter. Be sure to remove the plug before you open it up or click the link below to see if we have an engineer in your area.
Element replacement should be a bit less than the Indesit Company labour charge.
