Participanthi guys i have a problem with creda t601 cw there is some heat but not much the heating elements go warm then cool back down within about 10 seconds then warm back up again, then cold it would seem that only the top element is getting warm, there is also a clicking noise about every 5 seconds. “HELP” please

Thermostats not functioning correctly – 17011583 is the correct kit, it’s in the shop@ facility on the site. Possibly the timer – weak timer contact can give simlilar symptons.
Do not run the dryer without the rear cover attached – the air flow is affected and the stats will quickly overheat, not to mention that you are exposed to an electrical hazard.

1701583 is the stat kit. 😉
Can also be caused by the door frame mounted stat failing.

I have the same problem. Before I change the thermostats above the heating elements, can you tell me what impedance they should be when cold? Mine are currently s/c. Just want to know if this sounds normal or broken before I order the parts.

Thermostats should be normally closed, ie virtually zero resistance when split from the circuit.

There should be no impedance….a thermostat is a switch, not an inductor 😉
As it’s a heating device, you’d expect the thermostat to be closed,and therefore zero RESISTANCE at room temperature.

That was exactly what I wanted to know (and should have been able to think through for myself!). Presumably broken thermistors are o/c at room temp so it looks as if mine are OK.
I put it all back together to tidy the kitchen for tea-time and of course it works now! Maybe it just needed a good hoover out.

That’s great! but thermistors and thermostats are two different things!!!!!
Thermistor is a solid-state device, the resistance of which varies with temperature.
