Hi
I have an Ariston SF200 dishwasher but the timer sticks during the wash cycle. If I turn it to program 2 it never even gets going, I have to manually turn it a few degrees until I hear the motors/pumps start.
The dishwasher appears to go through the complete wash cycle if I help the timer knob turn a few times during the program 2 sequence. Once it gets to sequences 3 and 4 it all OK.
Could this be a timer problem of a sensor problem? Each time is sticks and I move it on it sounds like it is refilling, would this indicate that a drain sensor is at fault?

Does it heat? Heat is normally a static function on the timer – it stops and waits for the thermostat to tell it to restart. If it won’t start at the beginning, have you checked the conditiion of the programme knpb itself? If it has a spongey/floppy feel to it instead of a sharp, snappy “click, click” you may have an alignment problem due to the knob shaft cracking.

Yes it does heat and appears to clean OK if I help the knob turn when it sticks. The knob is fine for programmes 3 and 4 which are the final cycles.
The knob has a sharp click feel and I’ve looked at the shaft and the plastic is not cracked.

Hmm, you got me – thermostat function is the obvious one – it has to “make” the circuit to restart the timer after the heat phase, but doesn’t explain the no start business.
Looks like timer may be the problem – however……… there are two different ones fitted to this machine – a Copreci version (brown and cheap) and an Eaton one (cream and not cheap at all).
Decision time I’m afraid – send for us pros, take a shot yourself, or replace. Personally, I’d rush out and buy a Bosch.
