ParticipantHi, please excuse my ignorance, i’m a woman what do you expect 😆
Before i got this washing machine, i had a whirlpool one that had a round flap down door (under the main washing machine door) where you could clean the filter and drain off any excess water.
I cannot see this on the Ariston, only thing is a panel under the door. like a kick board. Has this machine got the same facility and how do i go about doing it if it has? Also while i’m here, whats the best thing to use for cleaning out the washing machine to help stop limescale / whiffy machine, in what quantity, what temp and how often and whether empty drum or a few odds to wash? Thanks so much in advance

The filter is under the kick panel across the bottom of the machine.
Odours:
Remove soap drawer and clean thoroughly. Then the soap box itself – look into the roof section especially, it’s often black.Lift the pleat of the door seal – clean out all the grey sludge and bits and pieces that you can. If it has turned black, you should consider having it replaced.
Clean filter and pump chamber (as you are about to do 😀 ).
If the drain hose is connected to an under-sink coupling, dismantle it and clean out.
Then, using a quality biological powder (Green Ariel, for instance), set the machine to the 90c wash and run. Do not set any economy or quick wash options.
If you have never done this, you may need to do it twice to get the full benefit. Try and make a point of doing this once a month – it does work.

Well i took off the kick panel, tipped the machine back but could see no filter part, then i hoiked the machine out of under the worktop, and couldnt see anywhere that remotely looked like it was the correct bit. I undid the white panel at the bottom but could only see the motor and fan belt. Am i going mad? Can see a pipe that connects to the outlet pipe, but if this the right bit i need to get off and clean, hows does one to do, in easy step by step instructions please, thanks

This is a Hotpoint based machine as opposed to an Indesit one. There is no easily accessible filter as such. There is a sump hose with a plastic cage for catching coins etc that can become clogged. Requires removal of back panel, then an internal hose. Plug out if you attempt to do this.
However, if the machine appears to be emptying correctly then I would leave it alone.
