ParticipantI know I might sound a bit of a wuss to all you lot – but is it easy enough for fairly competant DiYer to replace the door gasket on one of these. The thing has been ripped to shreds by an earing of mass destruction!
Any advice appreciated.

The door gasket can only be replaced after removing the front panel. After first ensuring the machine is fully disconnect from the mains of course! :zap: A simple job for a local independent engineer to sort for you at minimal cost (see link below). 😉
Not an easy DIY job I have to say but if you wish to take that route then a new seal is available here. 🙂

Many thanks for the advice Martin. I might shy away from the job then – those spring clips look like they could test the patience. I will turn them into a pair of earings.

OK – I wont bore you with the details but looks like I am going to have to do this myself. Is getting the front panel off the hard part? I presume there is a door sensor to detatch and a few screws. Is that it – or is there a cunning bosch device holding it all together.

Success. The hardest part was getting the outer clip on. The rest was pretty straight forward. I am now taking advice from elsewhere on the site and giving the thing a hot was clean.

I’ve been reading this thread with interest – only found this forum yesterday since the door gasket on my Bosch Exxcel 1200 WFO2464GB has just lost a 1cm square chunk at the bottom front edge and I started googling.
Riverdeep – did you end up taking the front panel off?
Assuming your machine is a bit like mine I’d appreciate a blow by blow account of the procedure.

ParticipantI’ll let you know how I get on (I know you want to know 😉 ) but now for an intermission while I try and find a spare gasket.

Hi Donald,
Good luck. I have just re-read my posting and a couple of points I forgot to make. Yes, you can see the loom clearly and how it connects to the door mechanism when the front panel is loose and ajar slightly. The other point is the front spring clip obviously needs to be taken off first as it is attached to the front panel.
My gasket was so damaged it had already come away so I didnt need to do that and forgot to mention that part of the sequence.
Good Luck
Andy

ParticipantResult. Thanks Riverdeep, Martin and Kevin. Took about 15 minutes to do the job – thanks to this forum I new pretty much exactly what to expect and didn’t have any ‘not got the right tool’ or ‘how can I do this’ hold ups.
