ParticipantI didn’t expect a premium-brand machine to pack up after only three years. I usually ran it overnight, so I didn’t know how noisy it had become.
It sounds like the main pump/motor is failing, as it is very noisy for the entire cycle. When I noticed a slight whiff of burning, I stopped using it.
The base contains a fair amount of foul-smelling water. The last time I ran it, it failed to complete the cycle, stopping on the 1 min mark, drain pump still running.
I suspect that a water leak has got into the motor bearings and wrecked them. (I would be happy to be proved wrong on this). I see from the Bosch website that a new motor costs more than £100. I tried the Repairs@ form, but there aren’t any entries found for my area.
I’m not afraid of DIY, (elec-eng by trade), I’ve managed to fix washing machines, VCRs etc.
So, how to get to the motor? Through the back, side or turn it on its head and take the base off? Any specialist tools needed? I’ve browsed the other posts on this forum for tips on possible leaks.
Thanks.

The whole machine has to be dismantled (including lifting the tub off) to access the motor. A tricky job the details of which we cannot elaborate further I’m afraid. 🙁
In order to carry out a successfull repair you will need 267773 motor and 183638 Impellor/seal set by the way. 😉

Thanks for the ‘heads up’ on the other bits which need replacing.
Is that likely to cure the leak too? (That is based on my unproven theory that a leak from pump to motor caused the damage). I have certainly seen this happen with washing machine pumps.
Ploughing though the archives, I didn’t find any other references to motors damaged by leaks. Maybe I just got a Friday afternoon model.

Hi
In addition to Martins parts list, I would also replace 171598 (Sealing) and 481562 (Front case).
For the sake of another £15 IMHO it worth it 😉Greg
