ERT Weekly has reported that Maytag’s business is to be integrated with that of Whirlpool in the UK leading to the closure of its Redhill, Surrey, base.
During next month, all sales, marketing and after-sales service functions for Maytag will move to Whirlpool’s UK headquarters in Croydon while its logistics operations will transfer to Whirlpool’s distribution centre in Aylesford, Kent.
“We are now going to complete a full integration, rather than continue to run as two separate companies,” said Andy Burns, Whirlppol’s head of marketing.
“We believe it’s the right thing to do both from the objective of maximising efficiencies, but also to continue to deliver the very high standards of support and service expected by Maytag UK customers”
He added: “We are currently going through a consultation process with the Redhill workforce and they are invited to apply for new positions based at the Croydon office, which we hope the majority will choose to do.”
Maytag UK currently employs 51 people at its Redhill office and it is not yet known how many will be transferring to Whirlpool in Croydon.
