Can anyone tell me if there is any difference at all, apart from the spin speed, between the Indesit WIL163 and the Indesit WIL 153 washers? I am tempted to go for the 163 but the 153 is a lot cheaper. If there’s no difference then I’ll go for that.

    Thanks in advance

Re: What is the difference between machines?

They are both budget machines built to a very low spec and considered in the trade as very much bottom of the market machines. Whatever you intend to pay, try and add as little more to your budget and buy something better, it won’t be difficult and you will benefit in the long term.

The current Indesit range has completely sealed drums, complicated, expensive and unreliable electronics etc, don’t say you haven’t been warned.

Why not type ‘Indesit’ in the search facility and have a good read before you take the plunge. 😉

So, to answer your question, there is very little difference between one Indesit and another when it comes to quality and reliablity, now if you had said “What is the difference between Indesit & Brand X” we could be more specific.

Many thanks for your reply Jim. Much appreciated. The reason I chose the Indesit models is that I am on a very low budget and they were selling them in the local Co-op for £209 (153 model) and £229 (163) at Argos. I know Indesit don’t have a brilliant reputation when it comes to washing machines as I’ve checked reviews of them on the Web, but the only others in that price range are Hoover and Candy which I believe are just as bad!

I haven’t got a washer at the moment and so need to get one urgently (all this hand washing is doing me in!), that’s why I was rushing for the first one I could find in that price range.

Thanks again Jim. Great forum by the way!

Have a look at the lowest priced Bosch machines, not made in Germany but still built to much higher standards than Indesit and they include a full two year guarantee. you should be able to source one for less than £50 more than your Indesit.

To give you some idea http://tinyurl.com/jbxfa

NB. I do not endorse that particular supplier, you may still get as good a deal and you will certainly get better service from a local independent retailer.

In fact Argos even beat that price http://tinyurl.com/kf5kr £20 more than your dearest Indesit option, a ‘no brainer’ really. 😉
