ParticipantI have the above 7 year old washing machine. When I went to fill the dosage drawer with detergent and conditioner I found that the conditioner compartment had not emptied from the previous wash.
I took the drawer out, cleaned it thoroughly and filled the dispensers again for a normal washing cycle. Alas, the conditioner compartment is still full of the conditioner after the washing machine has completed its programme. (No additional water in the compartment).
Can anyone tell me if there is anything further I can do – or is that particular part of the programme ‘toast’? If so, would it be an expensive repair job?
I suppose, if push comes to shove I could make do without a conditioner – I believe I’ve read somewhere that vinegar in the wash cycle also acts as a softener (correct me if I’m wrong!)TIA for any advice

At the back of the drawer, there should be a syphon cap, which mounts over a tube. That’s the area to get spotlessly clean. Also worth giving the roof of the soapbox itself a really good clean to ensure that plenty of water actually gets into the conditioner slot.

Afraid you are….. Horrible stuff, don’t put it into any appliance.
Your machine is one of the last “proper” AEG machines, so is definitely worth persisting with.

Have you ever seen CE on the display?

Thanks for your response Penguin – I have a friend coming to visit at the weekend and I will ask him to take a look. I think I have thoroughly cleaned the entire area inside the drawer – even took a nail brush to the roof as there are rows of tiny holes which I thought might have been clogged. Is there anything to be gained by taking the top off the machine to see if there is anything clogged inside?
Glad to hear I have a ‘real’ AEG washing machine. Most of my appliances (dishwasher, dryer and washing machine – all 7 years old – and my newish Competence Self-Cleaning Oven) are AEG and I’ve been very pleased with them. Touch wood, this is the first minor problem to crop up.

Simon – would I see ‘CE’ on the display window where the remaining minutes are shown? If so, then no I haven’t, the minutes remaining are shown normally and that is the only display window on my machine.

Good. It will nearly rule out a stripped “gearbox” that is a motor driven water pistol pointing to the different compartments. A drop in watermains pressure gave me a problem 3 wks ago as well. toothbrush clean to remove mould from detergent drawer roof sounds good. Get a bristle into the fine holes as well.
