The dishwasher stops working after 5 minutes. When I open the door there is water sitting at the botton of the machine and the light is not flashing. We tried the cancelling the program by holding the P botton like the instructions say but it does not work. Any suggestions?

This is a digital SMEG-built appliance – it does sound like a problem with the computer side of things as most problems will bring up the flashing lights to warn you.
You could try a reset procedure – use the Search facility for “Smeg” or “Diplomat” and “reset” – but no guarantees that it will work.
If it doesn’t, pro help will be your best course of action. This is a technically complex machine which will need to be fully tested in order to correctly diagnose the problem.
Power off if you are going to have an investigate.
