Participantmy icemaker seems to have given up the ghost. for a while now it’s been a bit iffy at harvesting ice. turning off the icemaker for a bit and then back on again seems to have worked but now it’s just packed up. The led is off on the ice detector which i’ve read elsewhere indicates a fault on the optical circuit. not only this though but the ‘eject paddles’ are part way through a harvest cycle.
Suggestions please

Hi
Its quite possibly a faulty receiver and/or transmitter optics.
These are an intensive appliance and may be in need of professional expertise. Please feel free to use the link below to find one.

has the appliance been making knocking noises at all? When you dispence the water, does it spurt out, or is there a smooth flow?
If its been knocking and water has been jumping, you need to replace the control board at the back – if the serial number is older the xx04, you need to replace the front control unit as well. very costly.
the LED in the freezer will only flash a “fault” in test mode.
If you do need to replace the boards, power off, should be easy enough to change.

This is one of the worst faults to try and diagnose remotely. It can be a host of things causing the problem from frozen inlet pipe to main pcb or anything inbetween.
I’d suggest going with Gegsy’s advice and getting an engineer in to diagnose and repair. Probably cheaper than throwing parts at it.
Click on the repairs@ link to find a suitable engineer.DP
