ParticipantDont recall this being mentioned before but i might be wrong.
It seems since the demise of expert a/c we have picked up even more obscure makes of appliances, not just fridges. This makes sourcing parts a more amd more labour intensive task.
I was wondering if a thread similar to the known fault codes could be established for who makes what and even more importantly where the hell do you get the spares??
We tend to use connect for a good majority of spares because their web site is nice and easy and quick. Makes keeping an eye on the spares bill easier as well if you haven’t got invoices coming in from all over the place.
Although cost is always an issue, reliability is probaly the most important thing especially when dealing with insurance/extented warranties.
Your thoughts and comments always appreciatedPINKY……..

There’s no definitive list I’m afraid Pinky. 🙁
General stuff you can find from this link which is a section of the site that several of us have been working on, as much for trade as public as it is massively confusing.
For spares info, speak to Dave if you can. 😉

It looks as near to definitive as I’ve ever seen. Very interesting and informative.

Thanks K,quite a good list but tbh nothing i’d didn’t all ready know.
It just seems like there’s more and more of obscure brands and the ins co still expect the same level of service.
I seem to spend half my time chasing parts and part no’s,name of the game i suppose.
would be nice if we could get something up and running where you type in a make and model and it comes back with a spares provider?Pinky

On that note give a thought to our very own Dave Conway who tirelessly slaves away doing just that!
Now if our main man Dave can’t source a part then it ain’t worth messing with. To be able to put Daves contact/sourcing knowledge into a contacts list would be the kind of thing you are asking for Pinky I guess? But ultimately even with that knowledge (as Dave will agree no doubt?) it takes an age to locate the correct model number, the serial number, the replacement part and/or its new part number change, the availability and stock holding and finally who and when can deliver? Such is Dave’s lot day in day out…..?
…..and there are no shortcuts at any stage in the process….. 🙁
Nirvana?….not in this game :rolls:

Dave has helped me out many times Martin.I would agree he is a wealth of knowledge but you no how it is.Time is always of the essence.I dont really like relying on on information where you email them then they email back and so it goes on.
As you well no customers wont to know now!!One or two jobs a week are okay like this but its getting to the stage of two a day.Oh well it was just wishfull thinking i suppose.mmmmMany thanks for your infoPINKY

There is an answer to this Pinky, but nobody’s done it yet. If I could, I would.
