ParticipantHi,
I have had this oven for just over 18 months and for the past few months if we have it above 200 degress it cuts out (The display disappears and the fan stops) if we open the door and allow it to cool a bit the display reappears and pushing one of the buttons (Not sure which) brings it full back to life! – Below about 200 degrees and it tends to behave itself… I have never been confident about its cooking temperature because sometimes stuff gets cremated and other times it needs a little longer cooking…Suddenly had the idea of buying oven thermometer so I can do a bit more research but was wondering if this cutting out is a classic fault or is it a rarity? – I can only assume the thermostat is faulty at high temps??
I am competent with electrics but if anyone can give me the benefit of their experience I would be grateful or a pointer to a service manual!
Thanks
Martin

Barneyb,
Thanks for the advice I will probably end up taking it to work and putting it on a bench – Should test the ventilation theory and I have a thermometer on order – I will report back – Thanks again

OK, an update to the problem. The oven died again last night when set to 200 degrees, the oven thermometer that I bought showed just below 200 degrees so I assume the thermostat is not at fault? I will take it out and put it on the bench and see if I can get it to go faulty to test the ventilation theory……
Does anyone know where the thermal cutout is on this oven and would I just have to look at the ventilation around that area or the oven as a whole? – It is in a standard 600mm unit with cupboards either side and a hob above, the hob is usually off when the fault occurs and they are fed from different supplies

Hi
You need to make sure that the ventilation is as per manufacturer, the temp in cavity measures correctly with a calibrated thermometer and the cooling ventilation fan is running (if fitted). If you unsure of any of the above please feel free to use the engineer link below on my sig.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in closing this query but the oven is now fixed. :rolls:
I took it into work over xmas and gave it a good clean. I found that the thermal cutout was absolutely caked in baked on grease etc and cleaned it up. This appears to have cured the problem but I obtained a new one from the very helpful peeps on here (£9 inc del) and replaced it anyway (5 Mins)Missus is now happy and doesn’t blame the oven for everything!, cheaper than new oven @ £250
