can anybody help? washing machine motor does not seem to work on wash cycle or spin. from other posts here, and from repair man who never arrived, i suspect motor brushes. I have taken motor out, lots of black dust everywhere, I now need to know how to change brushes. does anyone have specific knowledge? i can see 2 terminal screws holding plastic moulding to casting, or 4 long screws holding motor end castings together. not sure how to proceed. any advice gratefully received.

will they be willing to advise on procedure or will they want to do the job?

i’m a qualified mechanical engineer, and should be able to do the job, just don’t want a pile of bits on me bench if i undo the wrong screws!

    Hi
Im quite sure you are well able to complete the repair, however, we are unable to give a full blown repair procedure as the next person reading this thread may well not have the same ability or competence.
If you are a “qualified mechanical engineer” the job in hand should be apparent and a breeze.

Unplug appliance if investigating further :plug:

sussed it myself – just removed small spade terminal on the end of a lead from inside motor casing, and then remaining flat terminal can be removed from housing by sliding forwards until slot lines up with housing, then spring pops out, along with carbon brush. thanks for your help greg.
