ParticipantHi guys. I have just fitted a new bulb (LH of the two) in my Neff B1881 single oven, after the original one blew. It worked Ok one day, but the following day blew a hole right through the brass screw thread and has caused the oven to fail. It did not blow the fuse at the fuse box (I still have the old fuse-wire type not RCD). The clock works but the fan won’t operate, but it’s element seems to heat-up. Top and bottom elements appear to work but the working light only illuminates on top-heat/fan setting – not on the other nine functions. I am fairly technically minded and am able to replace the offending part/s. Anyone any idea which one??

My experience with this fault would sugest the left hand selector switch has blown, but this is only a thought, any would strongly recomend you get a local repair engineer try

Hope this helps

Had a nearly identical problem with a Neff U1661 oven. Wife switched the fan oven on; bulb exploded tripping breaker but when reset no light or fan although the fan element glows red hot!
Oven is couple years old but just out of guarantee so seeing as a new control box is about £180 + fitting took it apart and discovered a burnt out track on the circuit board in the control box. It was reasonably obvious the one that had burnt so soldered a jumper cable on and all ok again. Not a simple repair so don’t attempt unless confident or can rope someone in who is. Most difficult part was getting the control box out and removing the ribbon cable to the clock, I ended up undoing the front glass plate.
I’ve seen someone else with a similar Neff fault elsewhere on the web, I think it’s a design fault where the oven bulbs really need a separate fuse or re-settable breaker as they are only protected by the high amp cooker supply breaker/fuse, but suppose it’s down to cost etc.
The worrying part is how hot the fan element gets when the fan isn’t working and could be a source of more damage & danger – all from a simple blown bulb! 💡November 5, 2006 at 5:52 pm #191135Penguin45

Well done.
Future readers should note that any such repair should be attempted with the power off – preferably at the fuse/breaker box.
