Hi, been given a TDC 32 Hotpoint Aquarius condenser tumble dryer which has an anoying fault.
At the moment it only works on the lower heat setting, the high setting does not work at all?

Ive been told that its an element fault but wanted to check before splashing the cash.

The unit is only 20 months old and I know is covered by the 5 year cover but at £90 for the engineer to visit a £30-£40 element and an hours works seems far more economical!

    Can anyone help please?

    Steve

Curious – if you’ve got low heat, you should still have low heat when high is selected, not no heat at all. High heat simply switches on the second winding in the element.

Time to get the meter out and go circuit testing.

    Stay safe, power off.

Do you think the 2nd phase/part of the element could go down independent of the 1dt half?
The information Ive been given is element need replacing which I guess ties in with what you have said.

No, o_ptic, it doesn’t really tie in. One part of the element is permanently selected, high heat brings on the second part of the element. If you have low heat working, half the element is on. For high heat, that same half should still be on, as well as the second part. It sounds more like some sort of switching problem TBH. I’d be reluctant to buy an element until you’ve properly identified the problem.
