Zanussi inner drums are prone to coins, nails, buckles and zip fasteners getting lodged between the the inner drum lip and the outer tub. The only cure is to remove the complete drum and dismantle in order to remove the foreign object!

The “fluff” very often in these cases is grey coloured plastic swarf that has been scratched off the outer drum by the offending object!

thanks martin so the only way is a complete strip down a fair big job what woud you say 2 to 3 hrs could run into a fair amount which some people are not willing to pay no handy way to check to try and remove the problum the casing has to be split and then the tub removed and split and then you dont know if the tub is damaged from all the scoring as you say the fluff like stuff is coming from the tub 😕 fasetester

In most cases the only thing that suffers in these cases it that the belt gets shredded. I’ve had 6 inch nails caught in the drum before now and no problem to dismantle. They don’t usually puncture the drum as a rule by the way. Worth a go and a good money earner for no more than 2 hours work (tops I’d say) 😉

No! You’ve got it all covered there I would think? 8)

Anyone else and I would think I was being wound-up here? And Mystic Meg I ain’t, but as I said before, the belt might need replacing?

P.S By the way, you never did give me the model number so I’m assuming it is a 2 halves plastic drum model that we are talking about?

Ah well that will be the F1245W I expect, in which case all of the above applies and it’s a fairly easy job to do on that model. 😉

if washing is all covered in fluff if MIGHT have shredded a sock etc shine a torch into the drum if you can see a suspect hold it in place with a small screwdriver and turn the drum to move it to the top and remove the breather hose and pull it out. failing that…………….. tub out …………easy job!
