I have a bosch wff1401gb/01 fd8001 01476 which was left for me in my flat when the previous owners moved out as their new place had built in machines. It’s worked ok for 6 months, but it now needs to be repaired. Is there any way i can find out how old it is, as i don’t want to spend a lot repairing it if it is over 5 years old, if it is i’d rather get a new one with a garantee.

    Hi
From the details given I can tell you it was manufactured in January 2000.
Thats not to say thats when it was purchased. 😀

Out of interest, what fault do you have on the appliance, it may not be as bad as you are thinking?

A service man came this afternoon to look at it and said it needs a new electric door lock thingy and a new heater and will cost £90 to mend.
I don’t know if its worth it or not really.

    Hi
Thats a fair price for that repair.
I would imagine the engineer would have checked the bearings for “play” as if there was any then that would have to be addressed before the initial repair.
Providing that checks out you have to consider that the appliance is six years old and without a crystal ball, you have no way of knowing if a major part is going to fail in the near future after you forking out £90 😕

As they say….. you have the facts, the decision is yours 😉
