Prior to purchasing this washing machine, Hoover do not inform you their charges for call out repairs.
My Heavy knocking on HIGH SPIN only was detected to be a loose concrete block balancing the drum at the front end.
Just THREE SELF TAPPING SCREWS hold both the front and top concrete blocks that are in a constant vibrating mode when on spin. To my knowledge, there is NO LOCTITE or other adhesive nor locking/sprung washers securing these screws.
Hoover contacted me just minutes before their engineer arrived and offered me futher insurance I.E. they pay the £89 call out and repair or replace the machine during the next 12 months for a fee of £129. You can guess what I told them what to do with their offer?

What do you pay for a call out under your ‘Parts Only Warranty’?

we give a 12 months labour guar
and a 3 years parts guar on all appliances we sell (recon only) and in the 2nd and 3rd year we charge a labour charge only which is 35 plus vat
you pay large for hoover because you get a trained tech out to do the work with unlimited parts and in theory a better level of service
imo though hoover charge high work bad and take a long time to call wheras myself i am usually there same or next day
and this is not just a hoover issue:)

I am aware that they now have changed the design, they have changed it with a slightly modified outer tub/front plate now with bolts and threaded plate holding the said weight on, I would reccomend you contact them again and advise them of this or contact trading standards, the question being was the old design of reliable contruction as they have now modified it for reliabilty. good luck 😀

    Hope this helps

Many thanks both DDSDDS and especially ‘whitevanman’ for very valuable information. I have written to their service manager with regards to my fault findings and general feelings so I will see what he does or says before I take it further.
    Thanks again.
    Dave.
