ParticipantHello, i am looking for possible reasons for the fault on my dishwasher.
The fault is that the volume of water being pumped round is insufficient to work properly. ( i think )’
I have checked the spray heads and filters there seems to be no obvious reason, is it possible that the pump could be working below capacity?, the water is comming out of the lowest sprayhead but without much power. There is no water comming from the other 2 heads, does the same pump empty the dishwasher or are there 2 seperate pumps? the dishwasher seems to empty perfectly normaly.
Any help or advice will be welcomed with glee as i am starting to think i may have to PAY someone to fix it, and that is against my religeon, i am as you may have guessed a member of the tightwads.
thanks in advance …….hopefully.October 14, 2006 at 5:04 pm #192199Penguin45

Whirlpool in a skirt. Problem will be the “Big Askoll” circulation pump. As usual, the impellor has fallen off the end.
P/no is 4812 361 58334 and is a conversion kit to a “proper” motor – an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering.
It’s not a strange one BTW, this pops up all the time.
Stay safe, power off if investigating.

Thanks for that penguin, next question is would it be a straightforward job to replace the part for someone of limited mechanical ability… ie: me
or would it be safer to get a ” propper” bloke on the job.
And if possible would anyone have any advice on the simplest method of replacement, i am guessing dishwasher on its side remove bottom front, then baseplate, to expose the culprit then unclip the hoses somehow, and replace…. sounds easy enough … did i make it too easy??October 15, 2006 at 11:09 pm #192201Penguin45

If you have patience and cast iron knuckles, it’s a straight forward enough job. The hose clamps can be problematical as they are of a crimp-on type. A lot of patience is required to get a good seal.

Hello,Mr penguin 45 Sir, and all who read,
I have today replaced the broken part , as above, and am happy to say i have a perfectly good dishwasher once again.
Thanks to the forum and a big fish to mr Penguin 45.
For information purposes i pulled the offending pump appart, it was as stated ” the impellor has fallen off the end.”October 20, 2006 at 8:31 pm #192207Penguin45

Hello Forum,
I have an 18 month old Diplomat ADP8332 with what looks like the same fault.
The machine gives no error codes and the cyle appears to complete okay.
However the dishes in the dishwasher are barely cleaned at all, especially the stuff up on the top shelf. The description “the volume of water being pumped round is insufficient to work properly” seems about right. The unit has been making more noise that usual for the last couple of weeks prior to failing, so maybe the pump has been failing.I have taken out all of the tubing/spinners and filters and given them a good clean, but It’s still broke. I have also checked the pipes to make sure there are not kinks etc.. but everything seems fine.
So I guess I need to spend the cash and get a replacement circulatiion pump. But before I do – are there any checks I can make to make sure that this is the problem? The part is pretty expensive. I am happy with taking the dishwashre apart.
Thanks in advance. Joe.

If you’re getting poor circulation to the to basket, first check whether or not the twin up-pipes at the back of the filter are fully clipped home.
If they are, you’ll need to take a proper look at the circulation pump – it may well be the “impellor off” problem.
Stay safe, power off.

Thanks Penguin45,
I have checked the twin up pipes, they are clipped in properly.
I’ll try to get a good look at the pump.
I guess I’ll have to get the unit on its side and get the bottom off.
I can compare to the photo’s referenced earlier in the thread.Joe.

Hello. I have just purchased a diplomat adp8332 integrated dishwasher. I turned it on, and the power LED worked. However when I tried changing the style of wash using the programme selection button nothing happened. It looks as if the only button that is working is the on and off buttons. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help!

Hi Steve.
If I recall correctly if you hold down the programme select button for a long time – 5 seconds I think then it does a kind of mini reset – maybe that will help.
Joe.
